Sammie Cetta! First-Ever PLL Resident Artist!

I am pleased to introduce you to Sammie Cetta, the first-ever resident artist at the Personal Libraries Library. In the upcoming months, Sammie will be working in the Library, with the Collections, and printing in the PLL Press studio. Please read further below about Sammie and her project, in her own words.

Warmly,
Personal Libraries Library Librarian

PROJECT SUMMARY
I intend on pursuing my connection to the sky by looking at the Collection of those before me and what is above me. I will be making serial prints based on short stories from the Collection, two functional sculptures, and a book of prose.

The overlap of intrigue for those spotlit in the Library are individuals who all chose to contemplate the sky. While the Libraries' Catalogues have this one clear interest in common, they branch between science, literature, and art. The experiences and knowledge of those in the past can bridge the gap between our dismal present and a hopeful future.

ARTIST BIO
Sammie Cetta is a Californian living in Portland, Oregon. In her work, she identifies the relationship between herself, the Sun, and literature as an allegory. This allegory blurs the literal and the figurative, touching on notions of time, the written word, and marking everyday rhythms.

Sammie graduated from Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2016, with a Bachelor of Fine Art, majoring in printmaking, minoring in sculpture and publications. Cetta was the director of printed matter at Cherry | Lucic in Portland, Oregon; she produced books and prints to accompany each exhibition. She presently is a teaching assistant and volunteer digital archiver.
